Quick easy and healthy snack made with plantains. Patacones or tostones are made of green plaintains peeled and cut cross wise. Patacones are fried twice for the desired texture. Patacones are served in restaraunts all over Columbia as a side dish for fish or an appetizer with Guacamole, tomato or onion sauce and hot sauce. They are very simple to make and they taste great. You can eat them for breakfast with some scrambbled eggs.

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 - peel and cut the plantains in bite size pieces.

step 2

  • STEP 2.1 - heat some oil in a pan and fry the plantains in it until they turn light golden.

step 3

  • STEP 3.2 - press and crush the plantains pieces to give it a pattie-like shape.

step 4

  • STEP 4.3 - season with some salt and rub garlic clove on top of it.

step 5

  • STEP 5.4 - fry the plantain again till they turn crisp.
