This popular Thai dish has many English spellings: Pad Kra Pao, Pad Ka Prao, Pad Ka Po, etc. But they all point to this same delicious, rustic, spicy stir-fry featuring the aroma of holy basil. A mouth watering dish that can be easily prepared with some imple ingredients like thai chillie, basil, garlic, oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, minced chicken and is cooked in some vegetable oil.

Ingredients for Pad Kra Pow Recipe

  • As required Holy basil
  • 10 Nos Thai chilies
  • 5 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 spur chili
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1.50 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • As required Minced chicken
  • As required Vegetable Oil

Directions: Pad Kra Pow Recipe

  • STEP 1.Start by making the paste, so add the thai red chili in a mortar and pestle and keep pounding them until they are tiny. Then add 5 garlic cloves and 1 spur chili and keep pounding them into a paste texture. Take it out in a bowl.
  • STEP 2.Dressing- in a bowl add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, 1.5 tbsp dark soy sauce, 2tbsp water, 1.5 tbsp sugar, and mix all the sauce well.
  • STEP 3.Slice the long bean and dice the onions
  • STEP 4.Take a saucepan to add 1tsp oil and then add 3tbsp southern thai paste and keep stirring and mixing it well with the oil to get the grassy flavor out. Turn the flame down to medium and keep stirring them.
  • STEP 5.Add the minced meat and keep scooping and mixing it. Keep frying the meat until it is broken into small pieces
  • STEP 6.Add 1tsp salt and mix it well, then go in with the sliced lemongrass mix that is followed by the sliced kaffir leaves, fry them for a minute or so.
  • STEP 7.And then add the red chilies and keep frying for another 1 min. Turn off the flame and keep stirring.
  • STEP 8.And your khua kling is ready garnish it with some chopped red chilies.
