Directions: Onion Ghee Rava Dosa Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, rice flour, all-purpose flour, cumin seeds, chopped onions, green chilies, ginger, curry leaves, and salt.
  • STEP 2.Add water gradually and mix well to form a smooth batter. Let the batter rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • STEP 3.Heat a non-stick tawa or griddle over medium heat. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
  • STEP 4.Drizzle ghee around the edges of the dosa and cook until the bottom turns golden brown and crispy.
  • STEP 5.Flip the dosa and cook for a minute on the other side. Remove from the tawa and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
  • STEP 6.Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more dosas.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the batter is of pouring consistency. If it is too thick, add a little water to adjust.
  • Spread the batter thinly and evenly on the tawa to get a crispy dosa.
  • You can add finely chopped vegetables like carrots or capsicum to the batter for added flavor and nutrition.

Storage and Serving

  • Onion Ghee Rava Dosa is best served hot and fresh.
  • If you have leftover dosas, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat the dosas, heat a tawa or griddle and place the dosa on it. Cook for a minute on each side until heated through.
