  • 1/4 cup Basmati Rice
  • 1/2 Large Onions, Thinly Sliced
  • 1/2 Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ghee Or Oil

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • STEP 2.Heat ghee or oil in a large pan and add whole spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Saute for a minute.
  • STEP 3.Add sliced onions and cook until they turn golden brown and caramelized. Remove half of the caramelized onions and set aside for garnishing.
  • STEP 4.Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for a minute. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
  • STEP 5.Add spices like turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 6.Add the soaked and drained basmati rice to the pan and gently mix it with the onion and spice mixture.
  • STEP 7.Pour water into the pan, cover with a lid, and cook on low heat until the rice is cooked and fluffy.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with the reserved caramelized onions and chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with raita or yogurt.
