  • 1/4 cup Split Green Gram Lentils, Soaked
  • 1/2 cup Ridge Gourd, Chopped
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 Onion, Chopped
  • 1/2 Green Chilies, Chopped

Directions: Oil Free Turai Moong Dal Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the moong dal for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, add the soaked moong dal, chopped ridge gourd, turmeric powder, salt, and water.
  • STEP 3.Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is cooked and ridge gourd is soft.
  • STEP 4.Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and mash the dal and ridge gourd mixture lightly.
  • STEP 5.In a separate pan, heat mustard seeds and cumin seeds until they splutter.
  • STEP 6.Add chopped onions, green chilies, and curry leaves. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
  • STEP 7.Add the cooked dal and ridge gourd mixture to the pan and mix well.
  • STEP 8.Simmer for a few minutes until the flavors blend together.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
