  • STEP 1.Heat a large, non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
  • STEP 2.Spread the cooked rice evenly in the skillet, creating a thin layer. Let it cook undisturbed for a few minutes until the bottom becomes golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
  • STEP 3.Using a spatula, carefully flip the rice over to scorch the other side. Add the water around the edges of the rice to create steam, which will help soften and crisp the rice.
  • STEP 4.Continue cooking until both sides are crispy and brown. The entire process should take about 10-15 minutes.
  • STEP 5.Drizzle with soy sauce or tamari and sesame oil according to your taste. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
