Also known by the name Ney Pathiri. It is a signature recipe from the Malabar region in Kerala. It is prepared from blended rice, onions, grated coconut and cumin seeds. Shaped in flatbread, then deep fried.
STEP 2.Soak the rice in water for aroun 4 hours before cooking.
Cooking Directions
STEP 1.Grind the soaked and drained rice in a blender
STEP 2.Crush 1 ½ cup of grated coconut, 1 chopped onion and 2 tsp cumin seed in a grinder. Do not grind into paste.
STEP 3.Add to the ground rice, ¾ cup of rice powder, a pinch of salt and the crushed ingredients.
STEP 4.Mix well.
STEP 5.Take a lemon size ball from the mix. Press flat and shape round with hands.
STEP 6.Fry in a deep fry pan with cooking oil on medium heat. Flip the sides until pale golden colour. Serve with a side dish.
