We couldnt find a clear historical source for this drink, but legend has it that the sbagliato (italian for incorrect) comes from a bartenders mistaken addition of champagne into a negroni instead of gin. What a happy accident Fancy champagne isnt required; any sparkling wine you like will be lovely (we especially like it with prosecco).
