Nam Tok Neua, which directly translates to Thai waterfall beef or beef waterfall, is more of grilled beef or steak salad. The dish can be made with either beef or pork, and its common to find either version in Thailand. This curry is prepared with some simple ingredients and can be easily prepared at home for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients for Nam Tok Recipe

  • 2 beefsteak
  • As required Black peppercorn
  • As required Light soy sauce
  • 2 Shallots
  • 1 tablespoon dry chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • As required Roasted sticky rice powder
  • 2 Lime
  • As required Fish sauce
  • As required Green Onions
  • A Handful Fresh mint leaves

Directions: Nam Tok Recipe

  • STEP 1.Pound the black peppercorn in a mortar and pestle. Put the beef steak in a marinating pot and add around 2tbsp peppercorn powder and 2tbsp light soy sauce, apply them well on the steak and let it marinate for 1hour.
  • STEP 1.In a wok start by adding the sticky rice and keep roasting it evenly by tossing it. Once it is brown and the rice has puffed a little, turn off the flame.
  • STEP 2.Take a mortar and pestle and keep pounding the rice until you have a coarse powder. Take it out in a bowl and keep it aside. Dice and slice the shallots into half rings, chop the green onion
  • STEP 3.In a grilling pan, grill the marinated steak for 5-6 mins each side. It should be juicy, when the juice starts sizzling we know our steak is done. Let the steak cool down a little and then slice them into bite-size pieces.
  • STEP 4.Add the pieces to a mixing bowl and start by adding one heaping spoon of pounded sticky rice, followed by 1tsp sugar, ½ tbsp fish sauce, 1tsp dry chili flakes, 2 lime juice, give the beef a good mix so that the dry ingredients stick well.
  • STEP 5.Then add the sliced shallots, green onions give it a good mix, and then top it with some mint leaves and slightly stir it.
