Protein rich mushroom stir-fry in Kerala style. Mushroom Thoran Recipe is a Kerala style dry sabzi made with button mushrooms. Tossed is a lovely spice mix of whole spices like black peppercorns and cumin seeds along with some fresh coconut. Served best with some rasam, steamed rice and a dollop of ghee.

Ingredients for Mushroom Thoran Recipe

  • 1.50 cup Chopped mushroom
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 No.s Chopped Onion
  • 3 No.s Chopped green chilly
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • As required Curry leaves a few
  • As required Salt
  • 2-3 tablespoon Oil

Directions: Mushroom Thoran Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan and splutter ½ tsp of mustard seeds.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Add in chopped onion and green chillies. Saute till the onion turns tender and light brown.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Then add in chopped mushroom and stir cook for 3-4 minutes.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Add masala powder one by one into the pan. ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ¼ tsp black pepper powder and 1/4 tsp garam masala powder.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Next add ½ cup of grated coconut, a pinch of salt and curry leaves.

step 6

  • STEP 1.Mix the ingredients and cook covered on a medium heat for 2 minutes.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Turn off the flame and serve into a plate.
