A delicious rice flour murukku flavoured with fresh cream, green chillies and ginger. Mullu Thenguzhal (Mullu Muruku) or Magizhambpoo Murukku is one of the crispy, easy to make recipe. We can do this quickly with store bough rice flour. This is the conventional method of doing this magizhampoo murukku. This traditional murukku is prepared on many auspicious occasions and festivals. For marriages, seemandham, and many other events, this magizhampoo murukku is kept as seer dish.

Ingredients for Mullu Murukku Recipe

  • 2 cup Rice flour
  • 2 No.s Green chilly chopped
  • 1 piece Ginger chopped inch
  • 1/4 cup Thick Fresh cream chilled
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • As required Oil for deep frying

Directions: Mullu Murukku Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In the small grinding jar, add 2 chopped green chillies, 1 inch chopped ginger and ¼ cup chilled thick fresh cream. Blend it to smooth paste.

  • STEP 1.In a large mixing bowl, add 2 cups rice flour,1 tsp sesame seeds, 1 tsp salt, ¼ tsp asafoetida and combine. To this add the cream paste. Mix in the paste to combine with the flour mixture. Adding 2 tbsp of water at a time, knead it to form a soft and moist dough. Do not use more than ¼ cup of water.

  • STEP 1.Cover the dough and let it and rest for 5 minutes before shaping the murukkus.

  • STEP 1.Grease a sheet of aluminium foil with a little oil and cut it into 2 inch squares.

  • STEP 1.In the murukku press insert the star shape and grease the inside of the press with a little oil.

  • STEP 1.Fill the press with the murukku dough. Pipe out the murukku in concentric circles onto the aluminium foil squares.

  • STEP 1.In a deep pan or kadai heat oil for deep frying. When the oil is hot, slide the murukkus into the oil.

  • STEP 1.After sliding the murukkus into the hot oil, do not touch them. Allow them to fry for a few minutes before flipping them over. Deep fry on medium heat so that they do not burn.

step 9

  • STEP 1.After a few minutes the murukkus will be golden brown. Using a slotted spoon remove them from the pan and place them on kitchen paper towels to drain the oil. Repeat this process with the rest of the murukkus.
