Maghrebi mint tea, also known as Moroccan mint tea, is a green tea prepared with spearmint leaves and sugar, traditional to the Greater Maghreb region (the northwest African countries of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Mauritania).

  • As required A large handful of fresh mint
  • 3 teaspoon loose green tea
  • 3 As required tablespoons white granulated sugar
  • As required Water

  • STEP 1.Boil the water.

  • STEP 1.Then add the tea to an outsized pot and one cup of boiling water. Let rest for one minute then pour the water into a cup. Set aside. In morocco, this tea water is termed the “spirit of the tea”, which implies it contains the primary burst of flavors from the tea leaves.

  • STEP 1.Add another cup of boiling water to the pot, swish around, then pour the water into a cup. Discard this step is to scrub the tea and you may notice that the water is darker the second time.

  • STEP 1.Pour back the “spirit of the tea” into the pot. Add boiling water to the pot till it. Three quarters full.

  • STEP 1.Place the pot on the stove and, on low heat, bring the tea to a boil. Take away the pot from the warmth and instantly add the mint leaves and sugar to the pot.

  • STEP 1.Mix all the ingredients by gushing the tea into a glass and so gushing it back to the pot. Repeat this step 2-3 times. Serve it instantly.

  • STEP 1.While gushing, hold the pot high higher than the glass, to induce the distinctive foam of moroccan mint tea!
