  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds

  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 Green Chilies, Slit
  • 1 Tomatoes, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the moong dal for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and chopped onions. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 3.Add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, and tomatoes. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  • STEP 4.Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 5.Drain the soaked dal and add it to the pressure cooker. Add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • STEP 6.Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and give the dal a good stir. If needed, add more water to adjust the consistency.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  • STEP 8.Serve hot with rice or roti.
