  • 0.33 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 0.33 teaspoon Urad Dal

Directions: Mixed Vegetable Upma Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. Saute until the mustard seeds crackle and the dal turns golden brown.
  • STEP 2.Add chopped onions and green chilies. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
  • STEP 3.Add the mixed vegetables and saute for a few minutes. Add water and bring it to a boil.
  • STEP 4.Add salt and slowly add the roasted semolina, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  • STEP 5.Cover and cook on low heat for 5-7 minutes until the semolina is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  • STEP 6.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • Roasting the semolina before cooking gives a nice aroma and prevents it from becoming lumpy.
  • You can add vegetables of your choice like carrots, peas, beans, capsicum, etc.
  • Adjust the quantity of water depending on the desired consistency of the upma.
