Directions: Mixed Vegetable Dhokla Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, soak rice, chana dal, and urad dal in water for 4-5 hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain the water and grind the soaked ingredients into a smooth batter.
  • STEP 3.Add grated vegetables, ginger-green chili paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and sugar to the batter. Mix well.
  • STEP 4.Grease a steamer plate or a baking dish and pour the batter into it.
  • STEP 5.Steam the batter for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • STEP 6.Cut the steamed dhokla into squares or diamond shapes.
  • STEP 7.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. Let them splutter.
  • STEP 8.Pour the tempering over the steamed dhokla and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • STEP 9.Serve warm with green chutney or tamarind chutney.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to ferment the batter for at least 6-8 hours to get the perfect texture and taste.
  • You can add grated coconut or chopped cilantro to the batter for added flavor.
  • To check if the dhokla is cooked, insert a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean, it is ready.
