  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds

  • 1/2 Onion, Chopped
  • 1/2 inch Ginger, Grated
  • 1.75 Lic Cloves, Minced
  • 1/2 Carrot, Chopped
  • 1/4 cup Peas
  • 1/2 Potato, Diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 2 cup Water
  • as per your need Chopped Coriander Leaves For Garnish

Directions: Millet Khichdi Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Rinse 1 cup of millet and 1/2 cup of lentils in water.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, heat 2 tablespoons of ghee or oil.
  • STEP 3.Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Sauté for a minute.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped onions, ginger, and garlic. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
  • STEP 5.Add chopped vegetables like carrots, peas, and potatoes. Sauté for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 7.Add the rinsed millet and lentils to the cooker. Stir well to combine.
  • STEP 8.Add 4 cups of water and close the pressure cooker lid.
  • STEP 9.Cook on high pressure for 3 whistles, then reduce the heat and cook for another 10 minutes.
  • STEP 10.Let the pressure release naturally before opening the cooker.
  • STEP 11.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
