Methi Matar Malai is a Punjabi recipe which has a perfect blend of flavour with its creamy gravy loaded with spices along with the goodness of peas and Fenugreek leaves. It is a North Indian curry made with fenugreek seeds leaves, peas and cream. This is a sure shot winner recipe. It's creamy and combines methi leaves with green peas and creamy in a mildly sweet rich manner which is complemented well by by the addictive taste of the fresh leaves.

Ingredients for Methi Malai Matar Recipe

  • 3 teaspoon oil or ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 No.s green chili
  • 1/2 inch Ginger
  • 2-3 cloves large garlic
  • 2 No.s green cardamom pods
  • 1 No.s chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon Cashews
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1.50 cup chopped fenugreek leaves
  • As required Salt
  • 3/4 cup green peas
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoon garam masala
  • As required Cilantro A few

Directions: Methi Malai Matar Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 soak some almonds in boiling hot water for 40 minutes.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 blend the almonds into a smooth paste.

step 3

  • STEP 3.1 heat some oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, green chilli, chopped ginger, garlic and green cardamom.

step 4

  • STEP 4.2 saute it for two minutes and add onions, cashews and poppy seeds to it.

step 5

  • STEP 5.3 cook it for 2-3 minutes till the onions turn brown and allow it to cool down.

step 6

  • STEP 6.4 bend this into a smooth paste.

step 7

  • STEP 7.5 heat the remaining oil and cook this paste for a few minutes.

step 8

  • STEP 8.6 now pour milk to the pan and once it gets boiled add chopped fenugreek leaves, salt and mix well.

step 9

  • STEP 9.7 to this add green peas and cream.

step 10

  • STEP 10.8 cover and cook it for 4-5 minutes at medium to low flame.

step 11

  • STEP 11.9 sprinkle some garam masala and give it a nice stir.

step 12

  • STEP 12.10 garnish with done cilantro and your methi matar malai is ready to be served.
