1 cup Toor dal soaked
1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
4 No.s Dry red chillies
NaN As required Salt

200 gram Methi leaves chopped
1 teaspoon Sesame oil
As required Ingredients for usili
1 tablespoon Sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
As required Steamed toor dal cakes
As required Sauteed methi leaves
Directions: Menthia Keerai Paruppu Usili Recipe

STEP 1.Soak toor dal for 3 hours and then drain out the water.

STEP 1.Into a grinding jar add 1 cup soaked toor dal after draining the water. Add salt to taste, 1 tsp hadi powder, 2 dry red chillies and grind to make a smooth paste.

STEP 1.Spoon this mixture into greased idli molds and steam on high for 10 minutes.

STEP 1.In a pan add 1 tsp sesame oil and 200 gms chopped methi leaves and salt to taste and saute the leaves. When the leaves begin to wilt, turn of the heat and keep aside

STEP 1.In a preheated pan, add 1 tbsp sesame oil, ½ tsp mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add1/4 tsp asafoetida. To this add the steamed toor dal cake and break
