  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • As required Salt, To Taste

Directions: Masala Button Idli Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.To make the idlis, prepare the batter by fermenting a mixture of rice and urad dal.
  • STEP 2.Steam the idlis in a greased idli mould until they are soft and cooked through.
  • STEP 3.In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Then, add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  • STEP 5.Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.Add the steamed idlis to the masala and toss gently until they are well coated.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

  • Make sure the idli batter is well fermented for soft and fluffy idlis.
  • You can add vegetables like carrots and peas to the masala for added flavor and nutrition.
