A nutritious easy snack prepared from corn flour & bottle gourd. Makki ka Dhokla is a delicious Rajasthani dish made using Makki Ka Atta or Maize Flour. It is a winter delicacy and is enjoyed as a main course with kadhi or as a snack. These traditional dhokla are steamed and served along with Dal, Kadhi, or Chutney. They can also be cooked in boiling water and then you can shallow fry them to eat as a snack. The Dhokla is served as a whole, but you can cut them into pieces and give it a tadka with mustard seeds, curry leaves, whole red chili, and asafoetida.

Ingredients for Makki Ka Dhokla Recipe

  • As required Cornflour
  • 1 Bottle gourd bowl
  • 2 No.s Green chillies
  • 2 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  • As required Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 2 tablespoon Whole coriander seeds
  • As required Some coriander leaves
  • 1.50 tablespoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • As required Fennel seeds
  • As required Some curry leaves
  • As required Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Eno
  • 2 pinch Asafoetida powder
  • 1 Buttermilk bowl
  • As required White Sesame Seeds

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take corn flour in a bowl.

step 2

  • STEP 2.Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt as per taste.

  • STEP 1.Add cumin seeds & asafoetida powder.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Add coriander seeds, fennel seeds & grated bottle gourd.

  • STEP 3.Then add chopped green chillies & coriander leaves.

  • STEP 4.Add 2 tbsp oil,eno & buttermilk.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Mix all ingredients well with water & make a dough.

  • STEP 5.Now take a steel bowl/steamer utensils and spread some oil and put the mixture on it.

  • STEP 1.Boil water in a steamer.

step 10

  • STEP 1.Now steam the mixture for 20-25 mins.

  • STEP 1.Then cut the steamed dhokla into pieces.

  • STEP 1.Add 2-3 tbsp oil in a pan & heat it.

  • STEP 1.Now add mustard seeds and let it crackle.

  • STEP 1.Add a pinch of asafoetida powder.

step 15

  • STEP 1.Then add green chillies, coriander leaves & curry leaves.

  • STEP 1.Now fry the dhokla and cook for a minute.
