  • 1/4 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 Tomatoes, Pureed
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger, Grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic, Minced
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Rinse and soak the urad dal and chickpeas overnight.
  • STEP 2.Pressure cook the soaked dal and chickpeas until soft and tender.
  • STEP 3.In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, onions, ginger, and garlic. Saute until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  • STEP 5.Add the cooked dal and chickpeas to the masala and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.

  • Soaking the dal and chickpeas overnight helps in reducing the cooking time.
  • You can adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less chili powder.
