Lemon-Thyme Butter Recipe

Recipe By Southern Living

There are plenty of ways to create a compound butter. We love this citrus version thats made with lemon juice, lemon zest, and thyme. The bright, citrusy flavor of lemon paired with savory thyme makes one decadent butter. Compound butters are an indulgent topping for rolls, biscuits, and breads that take minimal effort but result in a major flavor upgrade. Other favorite butter flavor combinations we love? Try pear butterstir together 1/2 cup softened butter, 2 tablespoons pureed pear preserves, and 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary. Goat cheese-garlic butter is an absolutely decadent concoction of 1/2 cup butter, 4-ounces goat cheese, 4 roasted garlic cloves, and 1/4 teaspoon cracked pepper. Its delicious spread on a thick cut of homemade white bread thats still warm from the oven. For something sweet, try honey butter. Stir together 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 tablespoon honey, and 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon. When you top pancakes with honey butter theres almost no need for syrup (but, we dont blame you for slathering on the sweet stuff anyway). Once youve mastered how to create a simple compound butter, youll soon be thinking of all the new and creative ways you can stir up your own delicious concoction. Theres nothing better than a flavorful butter for topping dinner rolls, cornbread, or even your favorite store-bought sliced version.
