  • 0.33 cup Grated Bottle Gourd
  • 0.33 cup Yogurt
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 0.17 teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder
  • 0.67 tablespoon Chopped Coriander Leaves
  • 0.33 tablespoon Oil
  • 0.17 teaspoon Mustard Seeds

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Peel and grate the bottle gourd. Squeeze out the excess water from the grated bottle gourd.
  • STEP 2.In a bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth. Add the grated bottle gourd, salt, roasted cumin powder, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start spluttering, add curry leaves and green chilies. Fry for a few seconds and then pour this tempering over the raita.
  • STEP 4.Garnish with some more chopped coriander leaves and serve chilled with biryani or pulao.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to squeeze out the excess water from the grated bottle gourd to prevent the raita from becoming watery.
  • You can adjust the amount of green chilies according to your taste preference.
  • For a variation, you can add some grated carrots or finely chopped onions to the raita.
