An Easy and quick Lahori murgh chhole recipe.Murgh Cholay is a delicious gravy preparation that combines two of the most popular Ingredients of Punjabi Cuisine- Chickpea and Chicken . The testimony to this fact are several classic Punjabi dishes that have remained popular through several generations and are made with these two ingredients.Murgh Cholay is more of a Dhaba dish that survived the testing times of partition that this country was witness to in 1947. This should explain why it has a such a devoted fan base at both sides of border- Dhabas in Lahore and Amritsar are well known for their Murgh Cholay or Murgh Chaney preparations.

Ingredients for Lahori Murgh Chhole Recipe

  • 400 gram Chicken Legs
  • 1.50 cup Boiled Chickpeas
  • 1/2 cup Cooking Oil
  • 1 No.s Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Whole Cumin
  • 2 No.s Green Chilies
  • 1.50 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 No.s Tomato
  • 2 tablespoon Yogurt
  • As required Salt
  • 1 cup Hot water
  • 2 tablespoon Lahori Murgh Choly Masala
  • As required Lahori Murgh Choly Masala Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Whole Coriander
  • 2 tablespoon Whole cumin
  • 8 No.s Cloves
  • 2 tablespoon Red chili crushed
  • 3 piece Cinnamon
  • 3 No.s Black Cardamoms
  • 2 No.s Star anise
  • 4 No.s Green Cardamom
  • 3 tablespoon Chicken Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Baking Baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ajwain
  • 5 gram Javitri
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric

Directions: Lahori Murgh Chhole Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a pan, add all ingredients (above mentioned) and roast it.

  • STEP 1.Now, add in grinder and grind it well.

  • STEP 2.Lahori murgh choly masala now ready.

  • STEP 4.In a pan, add whole mugh cholay masala and roast it. After that, grind it in a grinder.

  • STEP 1.In a cooking pan, cooking oil, onion, whole cumin, green chili and cook until light brown.

  • STEP 5.Now, add ginger garlic paste, chicken legs, tomato, yogurt, salt, murgh cholay masala and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  • STEP 6.Now, add hot water, and steam for 8-10 minutes, then cook it for 2-3 minutes.

  • STEP 7.Now, add boiled chickpeas, hot water and cook for 1-2 minutes.

  • STEP 8.Steam for 2-3 minutes and add garnish.

  • STEP 9.Your tasty lahori murgh cholay now ready to serve.
