Ingredients for Kozhukatta Recipe

  • 1 teaspoon Ghee
  • 1.75 cup Water
  • As required Salt
  • 1 cup Roasted rice flour
  • 1/2 cup Jaggery
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom
  • 1/4 cup Cashews
  • 1.50 cup Grated coconut

  • STEP 1.Cooking directions for dough

  • STEP 2.1 bring to boil in a pan 1 ½ cup water, a pinch of salt, 1 tsp of ghee.

  • STEP 3.2 when the water starts boiling, add 1 cup of roasted rice flour.

  • STEP 4.3 mix the ingredients well.

  • STEP 5.4 turn off the flame. Cover the pan with a lid. Keep it aside to cool down.

  • STEP 7.1 melt down ½ cup jaggery with ¼ cup water in a pan.

  • STEP 8.2 sieve the melted jaggery to another pan for further cooking

  • STEP 9.3 add to the filtered jaggery ¼ tsp of cardamom powder, ¼ cup of cashews and 1 ½ cup of grated coconut.

  • STEP 10.4 stir well on a medium flame till syrup gets dry and absorbed with the other ingredients.

  • STEP 12.1 knead to form a smooth and soft dough

  • STEP 13.2 take out small balls each from the gough

  • STEP 14.3 roll the balls twitch hands to form a circular sheet. Stuff the filling into each sheet and wrap it again to form a ball.

  • STEP 15.4 do the stuffing and fillings for the remaining dough.

step 16

  • STEP 16.5 in a steamer, steam the kozhukattas for 12-15 minutes on medium flame.
