Kheer Mohan is a traditional Indian dessert made with rice, milk, and sugar. It is flavored with cardamom and garnished with nuts and saffron. This creamy and rich dessert is often served during festivals and special occasions.
STEP 1.Wash and soak the rice for 30 minutes. Drain the water and set aside.
STEP 2.In a large saucepan, bring milk to a boil. Add the soaked rice and simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally.
STEP 3.Once the rice is cooked and the mixture thickens, add sugar and cardamom powder. Stir well until the sugar dissolves.
STEP 4.Remove from heat and let it cool. Garnish with chopped nuts and saffron strands.
STEP 5.Serve chilled or at room temperature. Kheer Mohan can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Cooking Tips
Make sure to stir the kheer frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
You can adjust the sweetness of the kheer by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
For a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of ghee (clarified butter) while cooking the rice.
Storage and Serving
Store the Kheer Mohan in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Serve it chilled or at room temperature as a dessert after a meal or during festive occasions.
