Ingredients for Karivepaku Podi Recipe

  • 3/4 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Chana dal
  • 1/2 tablespoon Urad dal
  • 1/2 tablespoon Coriander seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 4 No.s Dry red chilies
  • 1 cup Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ground nuts
  • 1/2 pinch Hing
  • 2 No.s Garlic pods
  • 5 gram Tamarind
  • As required Salt

Directions: Karivepaku Podi Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a pan add ½ tbsp of oil, add wash and dried 2 cups of curry leaves and saute for 2 minutes at low flame, until the leaves are crunchy.
  • STEP 2.Remove the curry leaves from the pan and keep aside, add ½ tbsp of oil, 1tbsp of ground nuts and saute for 2 minutes at low flame.
  • STEP 3.Then in the same pan add ½ tbsp of oil, 2 tbsp of chana dal, 1tbsp of urad dal, 1tbsp of coriander seeds, ½ tbsp of cumin seeds, 6 dry red chilies roasted ground nuts saute for 2-3 minutes and turn off the flame, add a pinch of hing and mix well.
  • STEP 4.In a mixer grinder add the prepared lentils/ dal mixture, roasted curry leaves, 4 garlic pods, a small tamarind piece and salt.
  • STEP 5.Grind and prepare a fine powder and store in an airtight container.
  • STEP 6.Or serve with rice as a condiment and enjoy.
