  • 1 cup Toor Dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1 Onion, Chopped
  • 2 Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 2 cup Mixed Vegetables
  • 2 tablespoon Sambar Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Tamarind Pulp
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • as required Coriander Leaves For Garnishing

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Pressure cook lentils with turmeric powder and keep it aside.
  • STEP 2.In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and vegetables. Cook until they are soft.
  • STEP 4.Add sambar powder, tamarind pulp, and cooked lentils. Mix well and simmer for a few minutes.
  • STEP 5.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with idli, dosa, or rice.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add a pinch of asafoetida for extra flavor.
  • Adjust the consistency of the sambar by adding water as needed.
  • You can also add a tablespoon of grated coconut for a rich taste.

Storage and Serving

  • Store the leftover sambar in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
