Kabuli Pulao traditionally consists of steamed long-grained rice mixed with caramelized carrots, raisins, almonds, and chunks of lamb meat, although chicken and beef are also often used. Its unique flavor comes from a mixture of spices like cumin, cloves and cardamom.

Ingredients for Kabuli Pulao Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Rice
  • 0.33 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1.17 No.s black cardamom
  • 1.17 No.s green cardamom
  • 0.08 cup clarified butter/ghee
  • 0.17 No.s chopped onion
  • 0.33 kilogram lamb meat
  • 1/4 tablespoon Salt
  • 0.17 tablespoon 5 sugar
  • As required Water
  • 1/2 No.s sliced carrots
  • 0.17 cup Raisins

Directions: Kabuli Pulao Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1. in a cooker take some clarified butter and add onions. Fry them until they turn golden brown.

step 2

  • STEP 1.now add meat and cook it for 7-8 minutes. add salt, sugar, prepared masala and mix it well

step 3

  • STEP 1. add 2.5 liters of water, close the lid and cook it for 40 minutes after the first whistle. transfer it in a big pot and add carrots, raisins, roasted almonds and soaked rice.

step 4

  • STEP 1. cook it till the water dries and then add a little bit of prepared masala.. place the pot on a tawa and then cover it with aluminium foil and keep a lid on it.

step 5

  • STEP 1.keep the flame high for the first five minutes and turn to a low flame for 15 minutes. uncover it after 20 minutes and your kabuli pulao is ready to be served.
