Ingredients for Jeeraka Kanji Recipe

  • 0.33 cup Raw rice
  • 0.08 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 0.17 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • As required Salt required
  • 0.33 teaspoon Asario seeds
  • 1.83 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Grated coconut
  • 1.33 No.s Pearl Onions
  • 0.33 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 0.08 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 33.33 milliliter Water to grind paste
  • 0.67 tablespoon Ghee
  • 0.67 tablespoon Sliced pearl onions

Preparation Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak rice in water for 10 minutes.

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Into a pressure cooker add 1 cup of soaked rice,4 ½ cup of water,1 tsp asario seeds, ¼ tsp fenugreek seeds, ½ tsp of turmeric powder and salt as required.
  • STEP 2.Cook in the pressure cooker till 3-4 whistles.
  • STEP 3.Take in a mixer grinder ¾ cup of grated coconut, 4 pearl onions, 1 tsp of cumin seeds, ¼ tsp of coriander powder and 100ml of water. Grind to form a paste.
  • STEP 4.After 4 whistles open the lid of pressure. Mash the rice with the back of the ladle and pour in the ground paste. Also add 1 cup of water and mix well.
  • STEP 5.Allow the mix to boil. Turn off the flame once the rice comes to boil.
  • STEP 6.In a pan add 2 tbsp ghee and 2 tbsp sliced pearl onions. Saute it till golden brown.
  • STEP 7.Garnish the rice with fried onion toppings.
