Jeera rasam Recipe my mother's Simple one useful when u have cold n cough Take a small gooseberry size tamarind. Soak in 1 cup water.Extract it's pulp. In a pan take the pulp,add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp coarsely ground pepper 1/4 tsp jeera powder Curry leaves Salt as required.Allow it to simmer till it reduces in qty. Ensure it does not stick to the bottom pf the pan. Now add water for the qty of rasam required checking for the sourness and salt.Allow it to simmer.Once done tempering in ghee with 1/4 tsp and mustard and jeera each and curry leaves. Meanwhile keep a paste ready of 1/4 tsp jeera with little water. Add this finally to the rasam just after switching off the flame.Jeera rasam is ready to serve.This can be had as a soup.
