Ingredients for jeera aloo Recipe

  • 1 tsp ▢ oil
  • 1/2 tbsp ▢ cumin seeds / jeera
  • 1/2 inch ▢ ginger
  • As required finely chopped
  • 1 nos ▢ green chilli
  • As required finely chopped
  • As required ▢ ½ tsp turmeric / haldi
  • 1/2 tsp ▢ kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
  • As required ▢ ½ tsp coriander powder
  • As required ▢ ¾ tsp aamchur / dry mango powder
  • As required ▢ pinch of hing / asafoetida
  • As required ▢ salt to taste
  • 1 nos ▢ boiled potatoes
  • As required peeled & cubed
  • 0-1/2 tbsp ▢ water
  • 1 tbsp ▢ coriander leaves
  • As required finely chopped

Directions: Jeera Aloo Recipe

  • STEP 1.firstly, heat 2 tsp oil and saute 1 tbsp cumin seeds till it turns aromatic.
  • STEP 2.add in 1 inch ginger and 2 green chilli. saute for a minute.
  • STEP 3.further keeping the flame low, add ½ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp coriander powder, ¾ tsp aamchur, pinch of hing and salt to taste.
  • STEP 4.saute on low flame without burning the spices.
  • STEP 5.additionally add 2 boiled and cubed potatoes. (i have pressure cooked potatoes for 2 whistles)
  • STEP 6.mix gently without breaking potatoes.
  • STEP 7.add 2 tbsp of water, cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 8.after 5 minutes, potatoes have absorbed all spices.
  • STEP 9.finally, add coriander leaves and serve jeera aloo with rice or chapati.
