  • 2 tablespoon Mustard Paste
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Milk
  • 2.25 En Chilies, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • as needed Banana Leaves For Wrapping

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • STEP 2.In a blender, blend together mustard paste, coconut milk, green chilies, turmeric powder, salt, and sugar to make a smooth paste.
  • STEP 3.Marinate the Hilsa fish fillets with the prepared paste and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 4.Take a baking dish and line it with banana leaves. Place the marinated fish fillets on the banana leaves.
  • STEP 5.Cover the fish with more banana leaves and seal the dish with aluminum foil.
  • STEP 6.Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • STEP 7.Once cooked, remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
  • STEP 8.Serve the Ilish Bhapa hot with steamed rice or roti.
