Ingredients for Ilayada Recipe

  • 0.06 kilogram Rice Flour
  • 0.13 No.s Coconut
  • 12.50 gram Sugar
  • 1/2 No.s Cardamom
  • As required Salt
  • 0.13 No.s Banana leaf

Directions: Ilayada Recipe

Preparation Directions

  • STEP 1.Heat a pan and roast the rice flour in medium flame for 8-10 mins.
  • STEP 2.Cut the banana leaf into rectangular shape with approx 25 x 15 cm dimension

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Take grated coconut in a bowl. Add sugar and cardamom powder. Mix it well and keep it aside.
  • STEP 2.Take the roasted rice flour in another bowl. Add a pinch of salt and gradually add boiling hot water to the flour and mix it well.
  • STEP 3.Take the banana leaf and gently paste the dough to the leaf and spread it to create a layer of 0.25cm thickness.
  • STEP 4. Put the mixture of coconut and sugar on half of the rectangular/circular layer and fold the leaf from between.
  • STEP 5.Boil water in a steamer and gently place the ilayada into the steamer. Wait for 10-15 mins.
  • STEP 6.Ilayada is ready to be served.

Special Comments

  • STEP 1.Oil can be used for greasing as the dough is sticky.
