Bagel Dog Bites With Apricot Mustard Recipe

Recipe By The Spruce Eats

Kosher status: meat or parevea kitschy throwback to 80's deli fare, these adorable bagel dog bites are perfect for everything from graduation or superbowl parties to summer barbecues. The recipe uses prepared pizza dough as a shortcut, but if you've got a favorite recipe for homemade dough, feel free to use that instead. For the grownups in the crowd, serve the bagel dogs with cold beers or savory cocktails like this fresh tomato bloody mary. For the kids, think decaf iced tea or homemade "Sodas" Made with seltzer and a splash of juice. For toddlers (and older kids who tend to gobble their food), hot dogs are a major choking hazard. If you'll be serving kids under the age of 4 or 5, it's a smart idea to cut the dogs lengthwise into skinny strips. Instead of making cocktail-sized mini bites (which little ones may be tempted to pop into their mouths whole) reassemble the long, skinny strips and wrap them in dough--they'll have an easy to handle, safer to eat hot dog.
