Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the rice for 30 minutes. Drain the water and grind the rice to a coarse paste.
  • STEP 2.In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat milk and bring it to a boil. Add the rice paste and cook on low heat, stirring continuously.
  • STEP 3.Once the mixture thickens and the rice is cooked, add sugar and gulkand. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.
  • STEP 4.Remove from heat and let it cool. Pour the phirni into individual serving bowls or glasses.
  • STEP 5.Refrigerate for a few hours until it sets. Garnish with chopped nuts and rose petals before serving.

  • Make sure to stir the phirni continuously to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
