Despite its name, the gingerly from boozehound author and spirits columnist jason wilson isnt actually all that gingery (gingerous? Gingeresque?) rather, the ginger liqueur plays a supporting note to the funky, malty flavors of genever, an older dutch ancestor of todays modern gin. Apple brandy, maraschino and lemon juice round it all out, resulting in a tart, elegant homage to an apple-ginger pie. A ginger garnish goes far in upping spicy ginger flavors of the drink; a coin of fresh ginger on the rim is superb, as is a piece of candied ginger.
