The daisy is a classic formula: a sour made fizzy with the addition of sparkling water. The gin daisy is our favorite of this ancient family; the gin-citrus-sparkle flavor is refreshing and light on a hot day. Some old recipes call for triple sec, while others call for a fuller-bodied orange curaao. We prefer curaao for its richer flavors, but you can use whatever you like. Yet other recipes call for grenadine in place of an orange liqueur; we think those variants leave a lot to be desired when compared to this time-tested recipe. Lots of different gin styles go well here; we especially like it with old tom gin for an authentically vintage experience, but its also great with aged or botanical gins.
