Gaeng som is a classic staple curry in many Thai homes because of its simplicity. It is probably the easiest curry paste to make from scratch, and arguably the healthiest as well. Try out this really simple and quick recipe made out with shrimp, beans, cabage, garlic, shallots, chillies, finger root, papaya na dvarious sauces to soothe your taste buds.

Ingredients for Gaeng Som Recipe

  • 10 gram dried chilies
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.33 cup shallot s
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 tablespoon chopped or shredded fingerroot
  • 1 teaspoon 1 0.5 fermented shrimp paste
  • 3 cup chicken, pork, or fish stock, unsalted
  • 75 gram white
  • 1 tablespoon 2 fish sauce
  • 3 tablespoon 4 tamarind juice
  • 2 tablespoon palm sugar
  • 2 cup green papaya, cut into thin slices
  • 1 medium carrot, sliced
  • 1 cup long beans
  • 3 cup napa cabbage
  • 175 gram Shrimp
  • 1 tablespoon 2 lime juice, or as needed

Directions: Gaeng Som Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Remove seeds from dried chilies. Mix chilies, shallots, garlic, fingerroot, salt, and shrimp paste in an exceeding mixer.

  • STEP 1.In a pot, add the stock and convey it to a simmer. Add the fish and let poach simply till it’s done. Switch off the flame keep the fish aside.

  • STEP 2.Turn off the warmth for currently and take away the fish with a slotted spoon and add it to a mortar and pestle or a plate.

  • STEP 1.Pound the fish till fine and add the curry paste to it. Once done add fish sauce, tamarind juice, and sugar and stir to dissolve.

  • STEP 1.Add papaya and carrots and simmer for eight minutes and then add cabbage and beans to the pot and let them simmer for 2 minutes and once done add in some shrimp and let that cook for another 30 seconds.

  • STEP 3.Remove from heat, then style and modify seasoning with additional fish sauce, tamarind, or juice as required.
