STEP 1.Start by brushing off the shell from the fish, them cutting them into small pieces, and wash it thoroughly with lukewarm water

STEP 6.Take the kadai and add the soaked chickpea dal, chopped onion, sliced green chili, garlic paste, cumin paste, 1tbsp turmeric powder, and 1 ½ tbsp chili, and 8-10tbsp mustard oil.

STEP 7.And mix all the ingredients with each other thoroughly.

STEP 8.Now place the kadai in the stove and add 3-4 cups of water.

STEP 9.Stir it and now add 4 bay leaf, 5 cinnamon stick, and 5 green cardamoms.

STEP 10.Give it the right mix and cover it for 25-30mins, give it a stir occasionally.

STEP 11.Add some more water and let the fried fish hop in.

STEP 12.And cover it for more 10mins.

STEP 13.Turn off the gas and your chana dal is ready.

STEP 14.Serve it with steamed rice.
