Recipe By Slurrp

Farfalle Carbonara is a classic Italian pasta dish that combines al dente farfalle pasta with a creamy and flavorful sauce. The sauce is made with eggs, Parmesan cheese, pancetta or bacon, and black pepper. The eggs are whisked together with the cheese to create a rich and velvety sauce that coats the pasta perfectly. The pancetta or bacon adds a savory and smoky flavor, while the black pepper adds a hint of spice. This dish is quick and easy to make, making it a perfect weeknight dinner option.

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Cook the farfalle pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  • STEP 2.In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and Parmesan cheese until well combined.
  • STEP 3.In a large skillet, cook the pancetta or bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • STEP 4.Drain the cooked pasta, reserving a small amount of the cooking water.
  • STEP 5.Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the pancetta or bacon, and toss to combine.
  • STEP 6.Pour the egg and cheese mixture over the pasta, and quickly toss to coat the pasta evenly.
  • STEP 7.If the sauce seems too thick, add a small amount of the reserved cooking water to thin it out.
  • STEP 8.Season with black pepper to taste, and serve immediately.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley, if desired.

Cooking Tips

  • Be careful not to overcook the pasta, as it will continue to cook slightly when combined with the sauce.
  • To prevent the eggs from scrambling when adding them to the hot pasta, quickly toss the pasta with the sauce.
  • For a creamier sauce, you can add a splash of heavy cream or milk to the egg and cheese mixture.

Storage and Serving

  • Farfalle Carbonara is best served immediately while the sauce is still creamy and the pasta is hot.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat the leftovers in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of water or cream to revive the sauce.
