STEP 2.Peel off the skin and slice plantain vertically into 3 halves each.
Cooking Directions
STEP 1.Powder 1 tbsp sugar and 2 pieces of cardamom in a mixer grinder.
STEP 2.Into a bowl add 1 cup of maida, 2 tbsp rice powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and a pinch of salt
STEP 3.Pour in required quantity of water to obtain a loose consistency of batter
STEP 4.Add to the mix cardamom-sugar powder and blend the ingredients well. Keep aside the batter.
STEP 5.In a wok, heat cooking oil.
STEP 6.Dip each sliced plantains into the prepared batter and fry it in the wok.
STEP 7.Toss the sides and fry until both sides have a light golden shade. Now ethakkappam is ready to be served.
