Red plums, bursting with sweet and slightly tart flavours, are perfect for jam. But it doesnt just have to go on bread. Here, weve deep-fried some you tiao, or chinese dough sticks to go along instead. These chewy-inside-crisp-outside you tiao pairs wonderfully with the sticky, intense plum dip and is great washed down with warm black tea. Wed recommend the orange-bergamot scented earl grey-a good one to add some citrusy lift to all that plum sweetness. Or, some strong english breakfast tea with a pour of milk works well too.
