Modak is a sweet dessert prepared in most of the parts of india and most popular in maharashtra, goa region. It is a sweet dumpling prepared from rice flour, fresh grated coconut and gud or jaggery flavoured with cardamom and nutmeg powder. It can be prepared in many varieties like mava, chocolate paneer etc. However, it tastes awesome with rice flour and coconut gud stuffing as a steamed modak or ukdiche modak and wheat flour in the fried form. Modaks are lord ganapati’s favourite sweet food and it is being offered to him in most of the regions in ganpati festivals. Here instead of frying i have baked the modaks and there is a slight difference in the stuffing. I have added mango pulp and coconut mixture in the stuffing.
