Sambar as is well known, is a very common south indian lentil preparation, equally relished with rice, idli, dosa, etc. It is prepared with variety of veggies in it. Today i decided to add few dhoka pieces (fried lentil cakes) in it and the end result was a delicious fusion of south indian & a bengali recipe.

  • 0.13 cup tuvar dal , soaked for an hour
  • 2-2.50 piece Dhoka
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 sprig curry leaves
  • 0.06 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • As required Salt
  • 0.13 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sambar powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon tamarind paste
