This is an easy delicious go to recipe of rajma chawal for a Sunday brunch or get together. It's healty too as it contains good amount of carbohydrates and proteins. It is cooked with kidney beans (red), onion, tomato and good amount of authentic Indian spices. Here is my version of Dhaba syle Rajma Chawal with northern taste of India.

Ingredients for Flavourful Rajma Delight Recipe

  • As required For rajma
  • 1/5 cup Rajma - Red Kidney Beans (soaked overnight)
  • As required pinch of salt
  • As required For gravy
  • 0.40 tbsp clarified butter
  • 0.60 nos onions chopped
  • 0.40 nos tomatoes chopped
  • 0.60 nos green chillies
  • 1/5 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/5 tsp Cumin
  • 1/5 nos Bayleaf
  • 1/5 nos black cardamom
  • 1/5 tsp Kashmiri Red Powder
  • 0.07 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/5 tsp coriander powder
  • As required Salt as per taste
  • 1/10 tsp kasoori methi
  • 1/20 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 0.60 cups Water -
  • 1/5 tbsp Lemon juice

Directions: Flavourful Rajma Delight Recipe

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak red kidney beans overnight or at least 5 hours before cooking.
  • STEP 2.Heat clarified butter in a pan, add bay Leaf, black cardamom and cumin. Add onions and cook them till light brown. Add green chilli, ginger and garlic paste. Saute for 5mins and then add turmeric, chilli powder and coriander powder.
  • STEP 3.Now add tomatoes, garam masala & some salt. Cook the masala till it leaves the oil. Now add the drained rajma along with some more salt. Cook the rajma for approx 15 minutes this way and then add water.
  • STEP 4.Bring to a boil and cover and cook in a cooker. Cook till it gives out at least 5 whistles. Turn off the heat and let it sit in there for another 10-15mins.

  • STEP 5.Open the cover and add some water in case to adjust the consistency of gravy. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5mins and meanwhile add kasoori methi powder and lemon juice. Check for seasoning and serve with rice and assortments.
