This is a simple coconut chutney that i make when there are no green chillies or herbs like cilantro or mint. This chutney can be prepared in 5 minutes and can be served with any south indian breakfast or even snacks like fritters or samosas.
Ingredients for Delicious and easy red coconut chutney Recipe
1/4 cup grated or desiccated coconut
1 tablespoon roasted chana dal
1 shallots or small onions
2-3 dry red chillies
0.38 teaspoon tamarind paste
1/2-1 small garlic cloves
As required salt as needed
1/2 cup Water
As required For Tempering
1/2 tablespoon refined oil
0.13 teaspoon black mustard seeds
0.13 teaspoon cumin seeds
dash Hing or asafoetida
1/2 teaspoon sprig curry leaves or a curry leaf powder
1/2 broken red chilli
