This is a simple coconut chutney that i make when there are no green chillies or herbs like cilantro or mint. This chutney can be prepared in 5 minutes and can be served with any south indian breakfast or even snacks like fritters or samosas.

  • 1 shallots or small onions
  • 2-3 dry red chillies
  • 0.38 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 1/2-1 small garlic cloves
  • As required salt as needed
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • As required For Tempering
  • 1/2 tablespoon refined oil
  • 0.13 teaspoon black mustard seeds
  • 0.13 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • dash Hing or asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon sprig curry leaves or a curry leaf powder
  • 1/2 broken red chilli
