  • STEP 1.Wash the chana dal and soak it in water for 2-3 hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain the water and transfer the dal to a pressure cooker.
  • STEP 3.Add water, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  • STEP 4.Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is cooked and soft.
  • STEP 5.In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, semolina, carom seeds, salt, and oil.
  • STEP 6.Knead into a stiff dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • STEP 7.Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into thin circles.
  • STEP 8.Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the rolled dough until crispy and golden brown.
  • STEP 9.Serve the dal with crispy pakwan and garnish with chopped onions, coriander leaves, and tamarind chutney.
