Dal dhokli is traditional gujarati one pot meal recipe made with toor dal and wheat dough. it is one pot meal which is served and does not need any rice or flatbread with it as it does contain both.

Ingredients for dal dhokli Recipe

  • 1/2 Cups Dal
  • As Required Salt
  • 3/4 Tbsp termaric powder
  • 1.25 cup water
  • 1/2 Tbsp Oil for spinach mixture
  • 1 cup Whole wheat flour
  • 0.70 Tbsp termaric powder
  • As Required Kashmiri red Chilli Powder Or As Per taste
  • 1/2 tsp Oil
  • As Required Salt
  • 1/2 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 Pieces Green chilli chopped
  • 1 Pieces Dry red chili
  • 1/2 Pieces Chopped coriander leaves
  • 0.70 Tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp mustard seeds ( rai)
  • 1/2 Pieces chopped onion
  • 1 Pieces Chopped tomatoes
  • As Required Curry leaves
  • 1/2 Tbsp Finally chopped ginger
  • A Pinch Asafetida(hing)
  • 1 Cups water
  • 1/2 Tsp Sugar/ jaggery

Directions: Dal Dhokli Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a cooker add toovar daal till, add water, little salt, turmeric powder, oil and pressure cook for 4- whistles.
  • STEP 2.After 4 whistles turn off the heat and let it cool down completely.
  • STEP 3.In a bowl take whole wheat flour, add turmeric powder, red chilly powder, salt, oil and mix them well.
  • STEP 4.Next add little water at a time and knead a smooth dough.
  • STEP 5.Cover the dough and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 6.After 10 minutes take the dough and divide it in two parts.
  • STEP 7.Dust it with flour and roll the dough and make thick chapatti as shown in the video.
  • STEP 8.Take a bowl or any sharp cover and cut the dough in small circles as shown in the video.
  • STEP 9.Take one circle and slowly lift the edges and bring it together to form a pouch.
  • STEP 10.For tadka heat a small pan and add ghee
  • STEP 11.Add hing, zeera, mustard seeds, fennel seesds, dry red chiily, reduce the heat and add curry leaves.
  • STEP 12.Next add peanuts and roast for a while.
  • STEP 13.Now add chopped onion and fry till golden brown than add chopped tomato and cook till semi soft.
  • STEP 14.Next add red chilli powder and mix well.
  • STEP 15.After a while add cooked dal and increase the heat.
  • STEP 16.Next add water, coriander powder, sugar and mix well.
  • STEP 17.Let dal get one boil and then add dhookli.
  • STEP 18.Cover and cook for at least 10-15 minutes.
  • STEP 19.After 10 minutes open the cover and if dhoklis are floating means it is ready.
  • STEP 20.Dal dhokle is ready to serve. Serve it in a bowl and garnish with roasted peanuts, onions, sev and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
