Ingredients for Dal chaval Recipe

  • As required For tuvar/arhar daal
  • 0.33 cup Tuvar daal
  • 0.17 tsp red chilli powder
  • 0.33 tsp coriander powder
  • 0.33 tsp Cumin seeds
  • As required Pinch of asafoetida
  • 0.33 tsp Desi ghee/oil
  • As required Garam masala as per choice
  • As required Amchoor powder as per taste
  • As required Coriander leaves half a bunch
  • 0.33 nos Onion
  • 0.33 nos Tomato
  • 0.33 nos green chilli
  • As required For jeera rice:
  • 0.33 cup Rice
  • 0.33 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 0.33 tsp Ghee
  • 0.33 tsp Salt

Directions: Dal Chaval Recipe

  • STEP 1.Put daal and 4 cup water in a pressure cooker.
  • STEP 2.Add salt and turmeric powder.
  • STEP 3.Wait for 3 whistles.
  • STEP 4.Take a wok. Add ghee, as it gets warm add in cumin seeds and asafoetida.
  • STEP 5.Add chopped onions and green chilli. As its color changes, add in the chopped tomatoes.
  • STEP 6.Cook for a minute. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and saute for a few minutes. Finally add some amchoor powder.
  • STEP 7.Add this tadka into the dal and mix it. Sprinkle garam masala and coriander leaves.
  • STEP 8.For the Jeera rice:
  • STEP 9.Wash the rice and soak in water for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • STEP 10.In a pressure cooker add ghee and cumin seeds (Jeera). Add rice and the double water.
  • STEP 11.And pressure cook it for 2 whistles.
  • STEP 12.Serve hot dal chawal with salad, chutney, pickle and raita
